Fouad Messaoudi Shatters Mile School Record and Cracks NCAA Top 10 List as OSU Indoor Track & Field Wraps Successful Multi-Meet Weekend
February 01, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State indoor track & field returned to the track on Saturday for the second and final day of the Razorback and DeLoss Dodds Invitationals, highlighted by Fouad Messaoudi's record-breaking mile run and a multitude of top five finishes.
It didn't take long for the Cowboys to pick up right where they left off Friday at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., as Fouad Messaoudi took home first place in the men's Mile with a blazing time of 3:52.66. Messaoudi's mark not only shattered the school record by over two seconds, it was also the seventh-fastest time in NCAA history.
Close behind Messaoudi was Brian Musau with a time of 3:54.78, earning a fifth-place finish overall and the third-best mark in school history. Also joining them in the top ten were Laban Kipkemboi in seventh place at 3:55.88 and Ryan Schoppe in eighth place at 3:56.09. These four marks, accompanied by Alex Stitt's time of 3:56.03 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in December, established Oklahoma State as the only team in the NCAA this season with five men at 3:56 or better in the Mile at the time.
On the women's side, Victoria Lagat placed fourth in the women's 3,000 Meters with a mark of 9:07.47, the sixth-best time in program history. Sivan Auerbach turned in a top 10 performance of her own in the women's Mile, finishing ninth with a time of 4:33.34, good for fifth best in Cowgirl history.
Over in Manhattan, Kan., on the second and final day of the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, Jinah Mickens-Malik won the women's 600 Yards with a time of 1:20.13, setting a new meet record and ascending her to second all-time in Cowgirl history. Freshman Kalen Goodman followed her with time of 1:21.32, good for sixth in program history. Ansley Scott and Isis Grant also cracked the OSU top 10 list in the event, with Scott's 1:21.67 and Grant's 1:22.07 placing seventh and tenth in school history, respectively.
On the men's side, Crayton Shaw finished the Heptathlon with 5,046 points, becoming just the fifth man in program history to surpass 5,000 points in the event while also earning the fifth-place spot in the OSU record books. Hunter Vaughn finished fourth in the men's 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.17, just short of the 8.14 mark he set two weeks ago at the Arkansas Invitational that landed him second in school history. In the men's 600 Yards, Mason Page earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:09.41, tied for the seventh fastest in OSU history.
The Cowboys concluded the weekend festivities with a victory in the men's 4x400M Relay with a 3:10.41 mark, the ninth best time in program history.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action next weekend at the Steve Miller Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., from Feb. 7-8.
