International Competition
Represents Kenya on the international stage… In his international debut, dominated the 10,000 Meters at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany to win the gold medal in 28:42.39.
 
2025 Outdoors
Became untouchable during the outdoor season, winning every race he competed in… Opened his season with a simple regional qualifying effort at the John McDonnell Invitational, winning the 5,000 Meters by nearly 20 seconds overall… At the NCAA West Prelims in Texas, Musau once again defeated Samuel and teammate Fouad Messaoudi with an impressive kick over the final 100 meters… Entered the NCAA Championships on an upswing following his win at the NCAA West Prelims and he showed his confidence with another championship-level performance… Sat near the front of a fast-paced final and took the lead with 400 meters to go, holding off Samuel and Villanova’s Marco Langon to complete the 5,000 Meter sweep at the NCAA Championships, becoming the first man since Wisconsin’s Morgan McDonald in 2019 to do so… After his performance at NCAA’s, Musau was named USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season, completing the XC, indoor and outdoor sweep of the awards… He also became the second Cowboy in program history to be named a Bowerman semifinalist, joining British Olympian and Cowboy national champion Nick Miller… His season would continue into the summer as he would go onto to win the 5,000 Meters at the Sunset Tour in Los Angeles, defeating an entire field of professional athletes and Olympians… His winning time of 12:59.82 was the fastest time in NCAA history outdoors, gave him the world championship standard and shattered the school record by almost 15 seconds.
 
2025 Indoor
Continued his incredible fitness from the cross country season indoors, running the third-fastest U20 indoor 5K time in world history to open the season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston… His time of 13:11.29 in Boston also broke Alex Maier’s school record, giving him the indoor school records in both the 3,000 and 5,000 Meters… Set a new personal best in the Mile at the Razorback Invitational with his time of 3:54.78, fourth fastest in program history… Ran on the opening leg of the Distance Medley Relay that ran the third-fastest time in world history in 9:16.24, which also broke the school record… At the Big 12 Indoor Championships, Musau dominated the proceedings in the 3,000 Meters, breaking the meet record with his time of 7:45.79… Musau and teammate Ryan Schoppe went 1-2 in the 3K, which helped the Cowboys secure second place as a team with one event remaining… He would then go onto the NCAA Indoor Championships, winning his first individual NCAA title in the 5,000 Meters with a meet-record time of 13:11.34, becoming the first Cowboy in program history to win the NCAA title in the 5K… Returned the next night in the 3,000 Meters and earned first team All-America honors for the second season in a row with his fifth-place finish… Musau’s 15 points at the NCAA meet helped the Cowboys secure a fifth-place finish overall, their highest since 1965… For his efforts, he was once again named USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year for the indoor season.
 
2024 Cross Country
Opened his sophomore campaign with a dominant performance at the Cowboy Jamboree, shattering the course record by over ten seconds with his time of 22:55.6 on his way to the meet victory, defeating New Mexico’s 10,000 Meter champion and NCAA XC Runner-Up Habtom Samuel in the process. In his second race of the season, Musau helped pace a group of freshmen to personal-best times at the WeIs-Crockett Invitational… He then successfully defended his Big 12 cross country title over arguably the best conference field in the country, clocking the fastest 8K cross country time in program history at 22:07.0… With his victory at the Big 12 Championships, he became just the seventh man in the history of the conference to win back-to-back conference titles on the grass… Earned All-America honors for the second time in two seasons as he once again placed in the top 10 at the national meet with his fifth-place finish, clocking a 10K time of 28:44.9… For his performances during the season, Musau was named Big 12 Runner of the Year for the second straight season, becoming just the third man in the history of the award to win it twice and the first in program history… Was also named USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year for the first time.
 
2024 Outdoors
Exploded onto the outdoor scene at the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational in California, breaking a 12-year-old in the 5,000 Meters with his time of 13:13.29, which was also the sixth-fastest mark in NCAA history… His 5K time at the Bryan Clay Invitational would also finish the season as the fastest by any collegian during the 2024 season… Earned All-Big 12 honors in the 1,500 Meters at the Big 12 Championships… Qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 5K, punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships with a second-place finish in the region… At the NCAA Championships, Musau sat near the front in a sit-and-kick race, earning his first All-America honor outdoors with his fourth-place finish overall.
 
2024 Indoors
Carried his dominant form to the indoor season, opening up with an all-time performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener… Musau shattered the school record in the 3,000 Meters with his time of 7:38.04, which was also the fourth-fastest 3K time in NCAA history at the time of the race… Followed that performance with an individual win in the Mile at the Razorback Invitational with his time of 3:55.52… Set his personal best in the Mile two weeks later at the Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston at 3:55.49, which was the third-fastest in program history… Helped the Cowboy Distance Medley Relay squad qualify for the NCAA Championships with their time of 9:19.74… At the Big 12 Indoor Championships, Musau led off the DMR once again as they took home their fourth straight title in the event… Earned his second All-Big 12 honor of the season in the 1,000 Meters… Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in both the 3K and DMR… Led off the Cowboy DMR that collected their second straight NCAA title before coming back the next night and earning his first individual All-America honor in the 3,000 Meters, finishing sixth overall with his time of 7:46.79.
 
2023 Cross Country
Immediately burst onto the scene as one of the best athletes in the country as just a freshman… Kicked off his career with a second-place finish behind teammate Denis Kipngetich at the Cowboy Jamboree with a time of 23:41.9… In his second career cross country meet, Musau became the ninth Cowboy in 16 years to win the Big 12 individual title, leading the Cowboys to their fourth straight team title… His winning time of 22:46.6 was the fastest 8K time in program history on the grass… Continued his impressive season with a second-place finish behind Kipngetich at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, clocking a 10K time of 29:49.2… Carried his momentum into the NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors with his eighth-place finish, leading the Cowboys to their fifth NCAA team title in cross country… Musau put himself right at the front for the entirety of the race, even leading at one point as he clocked a time of 29:11.0, which was the eighth fastest cross country 10K time in program history.
