Cowboy Tennis Completes Season-Opening Doubleheader Sweep
January 17, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season with a pair of 7-0 victories over Saint Joseph's and UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
With the victories, the Cowboys are off to a 2-0 start for the eighth time in the last nine seasons and kept head coach Dustin Taylor undefeated in home openers (5-0). Over the last 12 seasons, the Cowboys have only lost one season opener.
Senior Alessio Basile cherishes the opportunity to compete at one of the best programs in the country, especially to start his fourth season as a Cowboy.
"It's really good," Basile said. "I want to leave it all out here for the whole season. It's great to be back in front of our fans. I want to thank everyone who came out and supported today; it makes it so much more special playing in front of these guys."
Sophomore Ian Bracks is a native of nearby Tulsa and understands the history this program holds.
"It's the best feeling in the world," Bracks said. "Playing matches here, having the support we have, playing with the guys next to us, nothing beats it. It's the best sporting experience there is and I'm excited for it every single time. It gives me chills."
