January 19, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team finished its opening weekend by taking down Saint Louis, 7-0, on Monday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Originally scheduled as a doubleheader, the night match with Oral Roberts was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and will be made up at a later date.Â
The Cowboys improved to 3-0, winning all three matches this weekend with a combined score of 21-0. This is the first time since 2003 that the Cowboys have opened a season with three-straight 7-0 victories. This is also the second time out of the first three matches that each Cowboy won in straight sets in singles.Â
Starting with doubles play, OSU junior Nicolas Kobelt and senior Aaron Williams swiftly took the first doubles point, 6-0, over SLU's Luca Lo Nardo and Declan Townsend. Following a dropped match on court two, OSU sophomore Thomas Gadecki and freshman Charlie Valentine showed dominance as they took down SLU's Andres Castellanos and Valentin Vasquez, 6-3, securing the doubles point.
Heading into singles, courts five and six saw Gokpinar and Gadecki take down Vasquez and John Varley, respectively, with each winning their matches, 6-1, 6-1, to extend the Cowboys lead to 3-0. Shortly after, Kobelt defeated Ducruet, 6-0, 6-2, to clinch the match and move the Cowboys to 3-0. With the match settled, Williams earned a victory over Lo Nardo, 6-2, 6-0.Â
Basile triumphed over Townsend, 6-0, 6-2, capturing the sixth team point as 92nd-ranked Valentine secured the final team point against Garvik, 6-3, 6-1, to earn his first collegiate victory.
The Cowboys will return to action on Saturday against UT Arlington at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
