STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team is proud to announce the signing of Tyler Zink, a University of Georgia transfer, U.S. Open Junior Champion and two-time All-American, it was announced today by Cowboy head coach Dustin Taylor.
"It is a great day to be a Cowboy when you add Tyler Zink to your program! Not only is Tyler one of the premier college players in this country, he also does it the right way with hard work, dedication, and a passion for the game that has impressed us all throughout his junior and collegiate career thus far," Taylor said.
"Growing up under the tutelage of his father, George, a former professional player himself, we know we are getting a very disciplined and well-coached player, who has a proven track record of becoming elite at every level he sets his sights on. From winning a U.S. Open Junior title, to becoming a two-time All-American, we will look for Tyler to lead this program to new heights during his time in Stillwater."
A native of Bradenton, Fla., Zink was a Blue Chip recruit coming out of IMG Academy, where he achieved an ITF World Junior ranking of No. 25. His junior career was highlighted by his victory at the 2019 U.S. Open Boys' Doubles Championship and a quarterfinal berth at the Orange Bowl that same year. While playing as an amateur, he owns one ITF professional title and a career high ranking of No. 880 in the ATP World Rankings.
During his time at Georgia, Zink was named an ITA All-American twice while achieving a career-high ITA rankings of No. 26 in singles and No. 7 in doubles. During his sophomore campaign, Zink earned All-America and All-SEC honors, while recording seven wins against nationally ranked foes.
His freshman campaign saw him garner ITA All-America status, SEC First-Year Academic and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors as well as being named the ITA Southeast Rookie of the Year. On two occasions, he was named the SEC Freshman of the Week. During that campaign, Zink finished the year ranked No. 15 among the nation's top doubles teams.
