STILLWATER—The Oklahoma State men's basketball team fought valiantly, but came up short against Kansas, 72-67, in a Saturday matchup inside of Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Â
The Cowboys led going into the halftime break, but Kansas came out with a 16-2 run over 2:15 that began less than four minutes after the second half began.
Â
OSUÂ (10-19, 3-13 Big 12) and Kansas (22-7, 11-5) fought back and forth the rest of the way as the game saw a lead change eight times and a tie score five times. Kansas came away the victor after going on an 8-0 run in the game's final minutes.
Â
A trio of Cowboys scored 15 points or more. Cameron McGriff and Curtis Jones both scored 19 points and Thomas Dziagwa put up 15 points.
Â
McGriff continued his success against the Jayhawks. With his 19 points and eight rebounds in today's contest, McGriff is now averaging 14.6 points and seven rebounds in his last five games against Kansas.
Â
Jones had a perfect 4-for-4 performance from behind the 3-point line. He was 7-for-9 from the floor overall and added five rebounds, nearly matching his career high of six rebounds.
Â
OSU's defense held Kansas to under 40 percent from the field. That is a feat only two other teams (Kentucky and Kansas State) can claim.
Â
The Cowboys end their road conference slate at 8 p.m. on Wednesday when they travel to Waco, Texas, to take on Baylor. Fans can tune in to the game on ESPN2.
