OSU Cross Country Leads Big 12 in Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State was well-represented on the 2016 All-Big 12 Academic Cross Country team, released Thursday, with five Cowboys and 10 Cowgirls named to the list of honorees.
OSU and Iowa State led all teams with 15 members each. In total, 114 athletes made the prestigious list.
The Cowgirls had the second-most honorees with 10 student-athletes. Natalie Baker earned a first-team spot with a 4.0 GPA. Nine other cowgirls, including Anna Boyert, Savannah Camacho, Jennifer Celis, Kaylee Dodd, Kaela Edwards, Clara Nichols and Molly Sughroue, also earned first-team spots.
Abbie Hetherington and Kaytlyn Larson were named to the second team.
The Cowboys had a pair of student-athletes qualify with a 4.0 GPA in Noah Gade and Christian Liddell. Luis Martinez also picked up first-team honors, and Matthew Fayers and Josh Thompson were named to the second team.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
