True freshman Kevin Kemboi takes Triple Jump silver medal at NCAA Outdoor Championships; Brian Musau earns first team All-America honors
June 14, 2026 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
EUGENE, Ore. – Oklahoma State men's outdoor track & field finished its season Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., with true freshman Kevin Kemboi stealing the show with his runner-up finish in the Triple Jump.
Kemboi continued his outstanding freshman campaign for the Cowboys with a career best performance when it mattered most. He took home the silver medal in the Triple Jump with a wind-legal school record leap of 16.84 meters, once again breaking his own school record set earlier this season at the NCAA West First Round. Kemboi's freshman season ends with him holding both the indoor and outdoor school records in the Triple Jump.
This is also the second consecutive season a Cowboy has earned a runner-up finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the horizontal jumps, with Blair Anderson taking second in the Long Jump last season.
On the track, Brian Musau earned his ninth first team All-America honor of his career with his sixth-place finish in the 5,000 Meters. In a largely tactical affair, Musau hung back and passed six men in the final two laps to claim three points for the Cowboys on the day. This is the third straight season Musau has scored at the national championships in the 5K outdoors, placing fourth in 2024 and first in 2025.
Teammate Denis Kipngetich doubled back from his fourth-place finish in the 10,000 Meters on Wednesday night and earned second team All-America honors in the 5K as he finished 11th overall.
In the team standings, the Cowboys finished tied for 16th with Oklahoma at 16 points on the weekend. The 16 points scored by the OSU men are the second most this decade after their 19 points as last year's NCAA Championships.
