2017 Outdoors: Started the season with a 3:46.17 in the Stanford Cardinal Classic 1,500 meters... Was on the 4X1,600-meter relay that won the Drake Relays... Took sixth place in the Big 12 1,500 meters, whcih was his ninth All-Big 12 honor... Raced in the West Regional 1,500 meters.
2017 Indoors: Made four appearances for the Cowboys... Competed in the 1,000 meters and mile... Finished 14th in the mile semi at the Indoor National Championships... Placed third and ran a personal best 2:23.85 in the 1,000 meters at the Big 12 Championships, which earned him All-Conference honors... Qualified for Nationals at the Husky Classic when he ran a personal best 3:58.53 in the mile.
2016 Cross Country: Laced up at four events for the Cowboys...Finished 155th at the NCAA Championships...His best finishes came at the Cowboy Jamboree and Big 12 Championships where he finished 30th.
2016 Outdoors: Qualified for the NCAA West Regional for the third consecutive season... Finished fourth in the Big 12 1,500-meter final to pick up his sixth conference medal as a Cowboy...Only ran once for the Cowboys during the regular season, but was fast enough to get into the West’s top 48 with the lone attempt.
2016 Indoors: Topped his personal best in the mile with a time of 3:59.25 at the Iowa State Classic... Earned two all-Big 12 honors at the indoor championships with the DMR team and individually in the mile.
2015 Cross Country: Competed for OSU at four events... His best finish was at the Cowboy Preview where he took 14th... Finished 38th at both the Cowboy Jamboree and the Big 12 Championships to help the Cowboys to a title in both.
2015 Outdoors: Qualified for the NCAA West Regional with a personal best 3:43.71 in the 1,500-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational...Scored for the second time in his career at a conference meet, picking up a sixth place finish in the 1,500-meter run.
2015 Indoors: Won his first Big 12 title as a member of the Cowboy DMR team... Ran the tenth fastest mile in school history with his career best 3:59.55 mark at the Iowa State Classic.
2014 Cross Country: Had two top-10 finishes in three appearances for the Pokes, including 10th place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree where he finished the 8K course in 25:57.11.
2014 Outdoors: All-Big 12 performer and West regional qualifier in the 1,500 meters ... Took fifth at the
conference meet, with a time of 3:57.75 ... Qualified for the West regional with a 3:45.09 at the Mt. SAC Relays, and just missed out on qualifying for Eugene, taking 19th at the West preliminaries.
2014 Indoors: Did not compete.
2013 Cross Country: Competed once for the Cowboys, running unattached at the Cowboy Jamboree, where he took 39th place with a time of 25:49.77.
High School: Attended Vyners in London, where he was coached by Stevan Dockic ... In 2012, won the 1,500 meters at the England U20 indoor championships, and took second in the 1,500 meters at the Aviva England Athletics U17 Championships ... In 2013, he won the 1,500 meters at the British Athletics Senior European Indoor Trials and UK Championships ... Also played rugby, badminton and field hockey.
Personal: Matthew Fayers was born Aug. 5, 1994 ... Son of Mark and Joanne Fayers.
