WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Oklahoma State women's golf team returns to the site of one of the best individual performances in school history when the Cowgirls tee off at the fourteenth annual Landfall Tradition on Friday.
Former Cowgirl Caroline Hedwall won the 2010 NCAA national championship at the Country Club of Landfall with a 12-under par performance in 2010, and OSU will look to recreate some of Hedwall's magic against a top-flight field this weekend.
OSU checks in at No. 10 on the latest Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings, and will face off against 11 top-40 teams at the 6,157-yard par 72 course. The Cowgirls will take on No. 5 Duke for the first time this season, as well as No. 7 Alabama and No. 17 Virginia.
Sophomore Maddie McCrary is in top form after shooting a career-low 65 to open the Windy City Collegiate two weeks ago, which matches the 65 from freshman Chih-Min Chen's 65 in the Schooner Fall Classic for the third-lowest rounds in school history.
Junior Isabella Deilert will see her first action of the fall for the Cowgirls.
Oklahoma State won a rain-shortened Landfall Tradition in 2012. Kelsey Vines shot an opening-round 69 before the weather cancelled the remainder of the event, and the Cowgirls were handed a one-stroke victory over Duke.
