Red Hot McCrary Has Cowgirl Golf In Second At Landfall
October 23, 2015 | Cowgirl Golf
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Maddie McCrary caught fire earlier this month, and the Oklahoma State sophomore has shown no signs of cooling off. McCrary shot a 2-under 70 to open the Landfall Tradition, which has the Cowgirls sitting in second place and just two strokes off the lead heading into Saturday's second round.
The Wylie, Texas native is 11-under par in her last three rounds of golf, and is tied for fourth after the first round at the Country Club of Landfall. She shot a career-best 65 back on Oct. 5, which is tied for the third lowest round in school history.
Duke sits atop the leaderboard by just two strokes thanks to the work of Sandy Choi, who is in second with a 4-under 68. The Cowgirls won a rain-shortened Landfall Tradition in 2012 with a one-stroke victory over the Blue Devils.
Chih-Min Chen and Kenzie Neisen are both tied for 13th place after the first round thanks to even par 72 rounds. Linnea Johansson (+3) and Isabella Deilert (+7) are in 36th and 70th place, respectively.
