WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Oklahoma State men's tennis team defeated Florida Atlantic, 4-3, on Thursday in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The Owls opened the dual by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the first point. OSU (6-7) responded in singles competition, winning four of the six matches to earn the victory.
Senior Eric West and freshman Chris Haworth each picked up their ninth victories of the year. West defeated Robert Dubuque in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot, while Haworth topped Will Neuner, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 3.
Junior Trevor Horstmann sealed the victory for the Cowboys after winning a tight match with Sean Bacha at No. 5 singles. Horstmann opened the match with a 6-4 win in the first set, but fell 6-4 in the second. Horstmann bounced back and took the decisive set, 6-3. Sophomore Rifat Biktyakov defeated Chris Janssen in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
The Cowboys will return to action on Sunday, March 25, in their home opener at the DeBois Tennis Complex in Stillwater.
