Rifat Biktyakov is beginning his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Oklahoma State men's tennis program. He will receive his degree in economics in December. A native of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Biktyakov's first year as a coach comes after a successful playing career for the Cowboys from 2011-2013.
Senior: Finished his senior year with an 11-14 overall singles record at No. 1...faced nine ranked opponents in the spring...after falling down a set, recorded his signature win against Nebraska's Marc Herrmann to clinch the victory for the Cowboys...completed his OSU career with a 40-42 overall singles record and a 22-10 mark in fall play...paired up with newcomer Matt Campbell to achieve a 10-4 doubles record at No.1, leading one of the Big 12's strongest doubles squads...finished his fall season with a 7-2 singles record at the No. 1 spot...took the singles championship at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic, winning three straight matches without losing a single set...paired with newcomer Richard Del Nunzio to earn a 1-3 doubles mark.
Junior: Went 8-12 in singles competition in 2012, playing the majority of duals at the No. 2 spot, though he won two of three he played at No. 1 singles ... defeated Filip Dzanko of No. 73 DePaul while competing at No. 1 ... defeated Marko Krickovic of No. 28 Baylor ... began the season ranked No. 89 in singles ... went 8-8indoubles competition, playing in all three spots with three different partners ... played the majority of his doubles matches with Vlad Bondarenko, and the duo ranked as high as No. 46 during the season ... turned in an 11-5 effort in singles play during his second fall season at OSU ... opened up fall competition with five-straight victories, including wins in all four of his matches at the RazorRacket Invitational ... made it to the final match of the OU Invitational before losing to Tsvetan Mihov from the Sooners, 7-6, 7-5 ... teamed up with Vlad Bondarenko in doubles play to go 8-3 ... the pair won its first five matches in the fall, including all four at the RazorRacket Invitational ... advanced to the semifinal round of the OU Invitational where they were defeated by the No. 13 doubles pairing of Chris Aumeuller and Benedikt Lindheim of Nebraska.
Sophomore: Finished 2010-11 with a 10-11 singles record, including 6-8 in dual matches ... split time in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, compiling three wins in each ... teamed up with Aleksey Bessonov to win five doubles matches and finished the season ranked No. 31 ... the duo ranked as high as No. 4 during the year ... highlight of the dual season for the pair came when they defeated the 52nd-ranked tandem of David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury from Memphis... in his first fall of collegiate competition, he became the highlight of the team with doubles partner Bessonov as the duo finished with a 14-4 record ... won the USTA/ITA Central ReÂgional Championships doubles bracket with Bessonov ... finished 4-3 in his first fall singles campaign.
