Cowgirls Win Two Games in California

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (OSU Athletics In the first game of the evening, Espinosa threw a complete game shutout against Massachusetts (2-6). She allowed five hits, struck out four and walked one.
The Cowgirls scored three runs in the first inning off two hits and two Minutewomen errors. Chelsea Garcia hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Julie Ward from third. The next inning, Ward hit a double that bounced over the right field fence and Mariah Gearhart scored from second base.
In the second game of the night, Oklahoma State scored first in the second inning off an RBI-single by Sammy Jo Diffendaffer. Long Beach State (9-5) responded in the third inning with an RBI-double from Denio and a sacrifice fly from St. Germain.
The Cowgirls regained the lead in the bottom of the third with back-to-back RBI-single from Garcia and Diffendaffer. In the fourth inning, LBSU tied the game at three with a hit to right field to score a runner from second.
Kelsey Anchors led the bottom of the fourth off with a double to right field. She was followed by Mariah Gearhart with a bunt single. Ari Morrison stepped up with a single to left field that scored both runners. The Cowgirls didn't allow another Long Beach State run.
Simone Freeman started in the circle for OSU and threw three innings, gave up three hits for two runs and struck out two. Espinosa took over in the fourth, allowed three hits for no earned runs, stuck out one and walked one. She remains undefeated on the year.
Oklahoma State will play again on Wednesday as they travel to Tulsa to face the Golden Hurricane at 6 p.m.
