Meylan procures NFCA All-America honors

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball's Ruby Meylan has been named a second team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced today.
This marks Meylan's third All-America distinction of her career after earning the honor in her freshman season at Washington and again last year in her first year in Stillwater. She is the 54th All-America selection in program history and the 23rd in the Kenny Gajewski era.
The Big 12 Pitcher of the Year was one of the most dominant hurlers in the country this season while tossing the second-most innings in the nation. Meylan finished with a 29-9 record, a 2.43 ERA and 220 strikeouts over 244.2 IP, with her 29 wins being the most for an OSU pitcher since Melanie Roche tallied a program-best 32 wins in 1993.
Meylan ranks inside the top 15 in the country in several statistics, including innings pitched (second), victories (third), shutouts (8, fourth), complete games (22, sixth) and strikeouts (12th). Additionally, the senior right-hander posted a 7.76 pWAR (predictive wins above replacement), which ranks second in the country.
The Omaha, Neb., native made Big 12 history as the only pitcher to tally 15 wins with at least 100 innings pitched in league play while becoming only the second hurler to reach at least 15 wins in Big 12 play.
The All-America honor caps a long list of accolades Meylan has racked up this season, including four Big 12 Pitcher of the Week awards, two Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week awards, first team All-Big 12 distinction, NFCA first team All-Region honors, USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 finalist recognition and a pair of first team All-America honors from Softball America and D1Softball.
