2018-19: Began the season with an OCU Open title and a 16-1 technical fall in a Bedlam showdown against Rustin Duke before succumbing to an injury that sidelined him for nearly two months… Following an unprecedented comeback, went 16-1 on the season for the Cowboys at 197 pounds, picking up four dual wins on the year… Notched seven wins over ranked opponents on the year… On Feb. 24, took out No. 4 Jacob Warner (Iowa), 5-3, inside a sold-out GIA… Racked up four technical falls and two major decisions, both of which came at the Big 12 Tournament… Claimed his third conference title in Tulsa, where he outscored his competition, 41-0… Entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed at 197 pounds… Pinned No. 11 Christian Brunner of Purdue in a career-best 58 seconds to advance to the semifinals where he fell to eventual runner-up and second-seeded Kollin Moore (Ohio State)… Came back and pinned No. 6 Willie Miklus in 2:10, tripling his number of career falls at the NCAA Tournament, before taking out No. 4 Patrick Brucki of Princeton in the third-place bout… Earned his second All-America honor after injury forced an early tournament exit in 2018.
2017-18: Went 11-3 as a junior despite battling injuries on and off throughout the season … Started nine duals for the Cowboys, going 8-1 and scoring 28 points … Six of his 11 wins came over ranked opponents … Recorded two technical falls and a major decision … Made his season debut against Northern Colorado and shut out No. 19 Jacob Seeley, 7-0 … Defeated eventual national champion Mike Macchiavello of NC State, 5-4, in Italy … Shut out No. 5 Cash Wilcke of Iowa, 6-0, in Iowa City … Also tallied wins over No. 13 Jacob Smith (West Virginia) and No. 13 Jacob Holschlag (Northern Iowa) in dual matches … Went 3-1 at the conference tournament to finish third … Was selected as the No. 9 seed for the NCAA Championships but suffered an injury in his first match that sidelined him for the remainder of the tournament.
2016-17: Went 22-8 overall at 197 pounds with a 7-4 dual record … First-time All-American, finishing sixth at the national tournament with ranked wins over No. 11 Shawn Scott and No. 10 Kevin Beazley … Earned his second-straight Big 12 title, knocking off No. 8 Nate Rotert of South Dakota State and No. 5 Jacob Smith en route … Recorded eight bonus point wins with four technical falls and four major decisions … Finished third at the Southern Scuffle, defeating teammate Derek White in the third-place match … Tallied six wins over ranked opponents … Dropped No. 18 Brad Johnson of Oklahoma, 4-0, in the Cowboys’ Bedlam victory in Norman … Two-time NCAA qualifier.
2015-16: Finished the season 19-12 overall in his first season as a starter for the Cowboys … Unseeded at 197 pounds but won three matches … Entered the 2016 Big 12 Championships seeded fifth and won his bracket, defeating No. 2 Nate Rotert of South Dakota State in the finals, 4-3 … Eight of his 19 victories this season have resulted in bonus points (3 TF, 4 MD) … Won his first dual match against Iowa State’s Marcus Harrington with a 10-0 major decision … Placed first at this season’s OCU Open, defeating his teammate Andrew Marsden, 7-0, in the finals … Won four-consecutive dual matches … Battled with two other Cowboys throughout the season for the starting spot … First-time NCAA qualifier.
2014-15 (Redshirt Year): Sat out most of the season due to injury … Went 5-2 overall … Opened the season with a first-period fall over Cortes Morales at the Reno Tournament of Champions … Won the Missouri Valley Open.
High School: Attended Hays High School ... Had a 168-4 high school record under Coach John Hafliger ... Won the 2014 USA Wrestling Nationals after producing a runner-up finish in 2013 ... Placed second in the Rocky Mountain Nationals his junior year and went on to win the event his senior year ... Was a three-time state champion and one-year runner up ... Member of the All State Kansas wrestling team from 2012-2014 ... Lettered four years in wrestling and football ... Also competed in track, lettering two years ... Placed fifth in the 4x100 relay in the Kansas state track meet in 2012 ... Four-time high school All-American ... Received the U.S. Air Force Warrior Spirit award in 2013-14 ... Named Hays High School Most Outstanding Athlete in 2014.
