Robideau & Ross Set for U20 World Championships

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State wrestlers Landon Robideau and Dreshaun Ross compete at the U20 World Championships Saturday and Sunday in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The event will be streamed on FloWrestling, with the Cowboys starting their run at 3 a.m. CT (10 a.m. local) Saturday. The tournament wraps up with the medal matches at 11 a.m. CT Sunday. The last Cowboy to win a U20 World gold medal was Daton Fix in 2017.

Robideau, competing at 70kg, faces Zurab Abalaki of Georgia in round one, while Ross takes on South Korea's Baejoon Jang, this year's Asian bronze medalist, at 125kg.
Robideau's Path
A month after being crowned an NCAA champion as a true freshman for the Cowboys, Robideau turned his attention to the U.S. Open where he went 7-0 to win the 70kg bracket. Robideau recorded five technical falls before defeating Seth Mendoza, 8-2, in the championship match.
Winning the U.S. Open meant that Robideau got a bye until the best-of-three final series at the U20 World Team Trials, where he faced Melvin Miller, the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2027. Robideau won the first match 5-0 before recording a 12-0 technical fall in the second match to secure his spot at 70kg.Â
Ross' Path
Ross began his path to the U20 World Championships with a hard-fought setback at the U.S. Open, where he fell to Coby Merrill, 8-6, at the 120kg championship match. At the U20 World Team Trials, Ross opened the tournament with a 53-second pin over Dean Bechtold before rolling to an 11-0 win over Michael Mocco, which earned him a spot in the best-of-three rematch series against Coby Merrill.Â
Merrill won the first by an 11-0 technical fall, but Ross bounced back by winning the next two matches, 9-2 and 7-1, to secure his spot on Team USA.
