2016-17: Went 23-7 overall and 12-3 in dual matches … Earned his second career All-America honor, finishing sixth at 184 pounds … After entering as the No. 4 seed, defeated Wisconsin’s Hunter Ritter, No. 12 Drew Foster of Northern Iowa and No. 13 Bryce Carr of Chattanooga at the NCAA Tournament to advance to the semifinals of the championship bracket … Earned his third career Big 12 crown, recording three major decisions in as many matches, including a 15-4 win over Northern Colorado’s Dylan Gabel in the finals, to claim the 184-pound title … Defeated four ranked foes on the season … Of his 23 wins, 16 came with bonus points, including nine technical falls, six major decisions and a pin … His 12 dual wins added up to 50 dual points for the Cowboys, which ranked fourth on the team … Finished second at the Southern Scuffle, going 3-1 to advance to the title match and helping the Cowboys earn the program’s first team title at the event … Competed at the Outlaw Open, recording two tech falls and a fall to take home the title at 184 … Named to the Big 12 and NWCA All-Academic Teams … Four-time NCAA qualifier.
