June 11, 2026 | Cowboy Wrestling
Lima, Peru -Â Cowboy Wrestling's Troy Spratley and Bennett Berge cruised to gold medals at the U23 Pan-American Championships in Lima, Peru, on Thursday evening.
The two Cowboys, fresh off their U23 National Championships in May, rode their momentum to equally dominant victories in Peru.
Starting at the 57kg weight class, Spratley made quick work of everyone in his way. The quarterfinals and semifinals saw Spratley tech fall both Ecuador's Esteban Morales and Guatemala's Jeremy Gonzalez with 11-0 and 10-0 wins, respectively. It took the All-American just 23 seconds to defeat Gonzalez, highlighted by five lethal rolls in a row to send himself to the finals.
The finals saw more of the same, with Spratley winning the gold over Columbia's Duvan Garcia Munoz (TF 14-4). Spratley adds to his impressive resume and will look to carry it into the college season this fall.
Moving to 86kg, Berge started his day with three straight wins to get through the group stage and advance to the semifinals. His group stage work was highlighted by a pin of Brazil's Max Magalhaes de Almeida just before the intermission. His semifinal match saw more of the same, with Berge taking another tech fall victory, sending him to the evening's finals.
Berge took on Puerto Rico's Alex Roman in the title bout and took just over a minute to tech fall him. Berge netted six points in under 15 seconds to secure the match. The South Dakota State transfer earned the title without surrendering a single point to his opponents. Â
