January 30, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
Princeton, NJ – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team dropped its first road match of the season, falling at Princeton, 4-3, on Friday night.
The Cowboys moved to 3-1 on the season, while Princeton improved to 4-1 on the 2026 campaign.
The Cowboys started off hot, winning their fourth straight doubles point to start the year.
Starting on court three, the Cowboys' senior and freshman pairing of Alessio Basile and Haydar Gokpinar proved too much for Sebastian Sec and Aleksandar Mitric, winning the match, 6-3. Sliding down to court two, OSU's Nicolas Kobelt and Aaron Williams battled with Top Nidunjianzan and Meecah Bigun. The match ended up being the longest doubles match of the season, going to a 14-point tiebreaker, with the Cowboys pulling away, 7-6(6).
Derek Pham and Charlie Valentine's match also went the distance against Princeton's 13th-ranked duo of Landon Ardila and Paul Inchauspe, however, with the point settled, play was stopped at 6-6 with Pham and Valentine leading 4-1 in the tiebreaker.
Moving to singles, Gokpinar improved to 4-0 to start his collegiate career, defeating Jordan Reznik, 6-4, 6-4. The Turkey native has won all four of his matches in straight sets.
Williams took court five against Milan Markovits, 6-3, 7-5. Like Gokpinar, Williams is 4-0 as a Cowboy and has won all four in straight sets as well.
Following courts one, two and three going to Princeton, it came down to a tight one on court four. Kobelt battled against 99th-ranked Sec, but fell in the third set, 6-4, 5-7, 1-6, to give the Tigers the win.
The Cowboys round out the Northeast trip on Sunday with a match against Yale at 9 a.m. CT.
