Cowboy distance squad heads west and completes successful Stanford Invitational
April 04, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STANFORD, Calif. – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field headed to the west coast for the prestigious Stanford Invitational, typically one of the top distance meets in the country every year.
Out at Stanford, Josphine Mwaura kicked off action for the Cowgirls in the 5,000 Meters with a personal-best time of 16:13.20 on her way to a five second victory. Madi Surber continued the winning trend, winning her heat of the 1,500 Meters with a dominant four second victory and a nearly 10 second personal best mark of 4:21.30.
Later in the evening, Victoria Lagat clocked the third-best 5,000 Meter time in program history with her mark of 15:41.75. Lagat now sits behind only Cowgirl national champions Taylor Roe and Jackie Goodman on the program's all-time list.
On the men's side, Ayden Granados took care of business in the 5,000 Meters, sitting on the heels of the leader before exploding to the lead with two laps remaining. Teammate Henry Dover sat a little further back before closing the final 400 in 57 seconds, but it wasn't enough to catch Granados in the end. Granados finished with a nearly 20 second personal best in 13:45.10 with Dover also setting a new PR in 13:45.90.
Capping off the night was Adisu Guadie in the 10,000 Meters. Guadie did his job and cruised to a time of 28:15.80, which should be enough to qualify him for the NCAA West Prelims next month. His time would be the seventh-best mark in program history if not for his PR of 28:10.06 last season.
The distance squad returns to the track in two weeks for the inaugural Oregon Open and Team Invitational meets on the Big Ten Network.
