Three Cowboys Earn All-America Honors; Cowboys Sit Tied for 14th after Day One of the NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Oklahoma State men's outdoor track & field started action Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., with three Cowboys achieving All-American status.
In the men's 10,000 Meter final, junior Denis Kipngetich earned his third consecutive outdoor All-America honor with a fourth-place finish and time of 28:02.24. This is also his second first team All-American finish in the event, placing third in 2024. Overall, Kipngetich has seven All-America honors in his career, with multiple first team finishes in each of cross country, indoor and outdoor track.
In the same race, Adisu Guadie finished in 13th place with a time of 28:22.86, giving him second-team All-American honors. This is Guadie's second All-America honor of the season, along with his 12th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, helping the Cowboys to the program's sixth NCAA title alongside Kipngetich and co.
In preliminary action, Laban Kipkemboi narrowly missed out on a spot in Friday's final in the Steeplechase, placing 13th overall with his personal-best time of 8:27.99. His time was also the third-fastest mark in program history in the event and was a PR by more than six seconds overall. For his finish, Kipkemboi earns second team All-America honors outdoors for the first time in his career.
The men's 4x400 Meter Relay squad of Will Bynum, Mason Page, Riley McGowan and Charlie Thorne finished 22nd on the day with their time of 3:05.33 and will be honorable mention All-Americans.
To start the day, Steven Schmidt continued his stellar season, sitting in 18th place with 3,852 points after five events in the men's Decathlon. Schmidt placed fifth in the High Jump with a leap of 2.04 meters and will look to earn All-American status Thursday with the final five events kicking off at 12:45 p.m. CT.
The Cowgirls will take the stage tomorrow, starting with Burklie Burton and Rachel Neaves in the Hammer Throw at 4:30 p.m. CT. Senior Kaylie Politza will also compete in the 800 Meter prelims looking to make her first career NCAA final.
