Cowboy Basketball claims 97-95 exhibition win in overtime against Auburn

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.ย โ Three Cowboys finished with at least 20 points to lead the Oklahoma State Cowboy Basketball team to a 97-95 overtime exhibition win over 2025 Final Four performers Auburn on Wednesday evening at Boutwell Auditorium.ย

Isaiah Coleman and Anthony Roy led all scorers with 28 points each, while Jaylen Curry added 23 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Roy notched his first double-double as a Cowboy as the sixth-year guard finished with 12 boards and was 5-for-10 from three.ย

The Pokes outscored the Tigers 48-34 in the paint and shot 48% from the field on 34-for-71 shooting. OSU finished 21-for-29 from the charity stripe and totaled 52 rebounds in the contest.ย

The Cowboys jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the contest, an advantage they wouldn't relinquish until the 5:23 mark in the first half when Auburn took a 30-29 lead. The two teams traded buckets until the end of the first half, until Lefteris Mantzoukas drilled a jumper with six seconds remaining to give the Pokes a 43-42 lead heading into halftime.ย

OSU and Auburn traded blows out of the break before the Cowboys then rattled off eight straight points to take a 58-50 lead with 13:24 remaining in the contest. The Pokes maintained their cushion until Auburn tied the game at 80-80 with 1:40 left in the half.ย

After the two teams swapped layups, Roy nailed a three-point dagger with 41 seconds left in the contest to give OSU an 85-82 lead. Auburn's Keyshawn Hall then converted an and-one attempt with 28 seconds left to tie the game at 85-85 and send the contest into overtime.ย

The Cowboys started overtime just as they ended regulation, as they got out to an early 90-85 lead before the Tigers tied it at 92 apiece with 51 seconds remaining. From there, Roy and Auburn's Tahaad Pettiford traded three-point baskets to give the Cowboys the ball tied at 95 with 18 seconds left in the game.ย

Curry won the game for the Pokes with a go-ahead layup with eight seconds left before Auburn missed a potential game-tying jumper as time expired.ย
