Cowgirls finish runner-up at Dale McNamara Invitational
October 15, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
Broken Arrow, Okla. – The Oklahoma State women's golf team closed out the Dale McNamara Invitational with a second-place team finish and four top 10 individual performances.
The Cowgirls (294-282-303 – 879) landed 21 shots behind the leader, Arkansas (858), but bested 14 others including third-place Oklahoma (895) and fourth-place BYU (901) by 16 and 22 strokes respectively.
Tough conditions led to tough scores in Tuesday's final round with just one of the 84 golfers shooting below par.
Thitaporn Saithip (71-72-73 – 216) competed individually and posted the highest finish in her three-year OSU career (fifth place).
Four other Cowgirls ranked between seventh and 15th on the final leaderboard.
Playing in her first collegiate event, freshman Tarapath Panya (77-69-72 – 218) tied for seventh place, helped by a tournament-best 2.75 par-3 scoring average. She also carded the third-best individual score in Tuesday's final round (1-over).
Fellow freshman Summer Lee (70-71-79 – 220) followed up a top 15 showing at the Schooner Fall classic with her first career top 10 finish.
Junior transfer Grace Kilcrease (71-76-79 – 220) matched her and has now posted three straight top 10s to begin her own Cowgirl career. Kilcrease shot a combined 6-under on par-5s throughout the week, helped by her first eagle as a Cowgirl during Tuesday's 2-over performance.
Sophomore Ellie Bushnell (76-67-79 – 222) tied for 15th after shooting a career-low 67 in Monday's second round. She had the tournament's second-best par-5 scoring average behind Kilcrease (4-under).
The Cowgirls will be back in action next Monday at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Oklahoma City and on the Golf Channel.
