Cowgirl Golf Wraps Up Day One at Dale McNamara Invitational in Second Place
October 14, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
Broken Arrow, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's golf team landed in second place after rounds one and two of the Dale McNamara Invitational on Monday at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
The Pokes had a strong team effort, with the five counting scores all placing in the top 20 for the first two rounds. The performance put OSU in second place, only trailing first place Arkansas by eight strokes heading into the final round. The third-place team, BYU, trails the Pokes by a 18 strokes.
The Cowgirls were one of two teams to shoot under par as a team for a round today. In round two, OSU shot a 282. Arkansas was the only team to beat that score, shooting a 276. The dry conditions made Cedar Ridge a challenging test, specifically on the greens. However, the Pokes took advantage, leading the field in total birdies with 26.
The diverse effort was led by three underclassmen. Freshman Summer Lee sits in fifth at 1-under par. The first-year Cowgirl carded a team-high eight birdies and sits five strokes back of Arkansas' Reagan Zibliski.
Ellie Bushnell shined in round two, firing a career-tying best round of 67 after opening with a 76 in round one. Competing individually, junior Thitaporn Sathip, performed well, carding scores of 71 and 72, with only six total bogeys. Bushnell and Saithip sit right behind Lee in a tie for sixth.
Freshman Tarapath Panya made her Cowgirl Golf debut. After opening with a 77, Panya showed resilience and bounced back excellently, shooting a 2-under 69 in round two. The young Poke led the field in par-3 scoring, averaging a 2.75 for the day and now sits in a tie for 13th.
Grace Kilcrease rounded out the counting numbers with an even-par 71 and a 76. Sammie Miller was 10 strokes better in round two, improving on her 85 with a 75.
The Cowgirls will look to claim the team and individual titles tomorrow, with OSU going out at 8:30 a.m.
