OSU Outdoor Track & Field Splits up for Stanford and Baylor Invitationals

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field splits up for the second consecutive weekend as it travels to Palo Alto, Calif., and Waco, Texas, for the Stanford and Baylor Invitationals.
Several Cowboy and Cowgirl distance runners will make their outdoor season debuts in the Stanford Invitational. Cowboy runners Alex Maier, Grant Wilcox, Rory Leonard, Ryan Smeeton, Shea Foster, Victor Shitsama and Will Muirhead all open their 2022 campaigns while Clarissa Morales, Colleen Stegmann, Heidi Demeo and Taylor Somers open for the Cowgirls.
Smeeton returns to the outdoor scene for the first time since placing third at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. The two-time outdoor All-American in the steeplechase will compete in the invitational portion of the event on Friday.
On the men's side, Wilcox, Leonard and Muirhead all compete in the 5,000 Meter run on Friday with Foster, Maier and Shitsama all running in the 10,000 Meter run. Maier will open up for the first time following his impressive indoor campaign, where he earned second-team All-America honors in the 5K and won two Big 12 Championships in the DMR and 3K.
For the Cowgirls, Demeo and Stegmann open their seasons in the women's 5,000 Meters and are followed by Morales and Somers in the 10K.
The rest of the team travels to Waco for the Baylor Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Hannah Bradford, Sam Mason and Zac Robbins open the competition for OSU on Friday in the men's and women's Hammer Throw. The trio opened their season last weekend at the ORU Invitational in Tulsa in the Hammer, with Bradford and Mason also throwing the Discus.
School-record holder Ariadni Adamopoulou opens her 2022 outdoor season after placing second at the Big 12 Indoor meet in the Pole Vault and earning a second-team All-America honor to her ledger at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The men's 4x400 Meter squad of EJ Berry, Koryee Wyatt, Charlie Bartholomew and DJ McArthur will also make their return after setting the program record in the event last week at the Texas Relays with a blistering time of 3:05.51.
