2023 Outdoors
Competed at five meets during the outdoor season, primarily in the 10,000 Meters… Opened his season at the Stanford Invitational, finishing in 28:55.20… He followed up that performance with a fourth-place finish at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 28:33.04… At the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, Maier finished second overall in the 5,000 Meters with a time of 13:53.71… Qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 10,000 Meters, where he snagged the final NCAA Championship spot with a 12th-place finish in the 10K… Competed at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, earning honorable mention honors.
2023 Indoors
Kicked off his season with a bang, running 13:11.80 in the 5,000 Meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, which was the fourth-fastest time in American and NCAA history at the time… At the Razorback Invitational, Maier ran 3:58.31 in the Mile and anchored the Cowboy DMR to a meet victory and NCAA-leading time at the time of the race… Two weeks later, Maier traveled to New York City for the 115th Millrose Games, running 7:43.05 in the 3,000 Meters… His time was the 13th fastest in NCAA History and fifth-fastest in the NCAA in 2023… At the Big 12 Indoor Championships, Maier did the 3K-5K double, winning both races and earning Big 12 High-Point Scorer with 20 points overall… From there he went onto the NCAA Indoor Championships, where he earned first team All-America honors in both the 3,000 and 5,000 Meters, helping the Cowboys secure a sixth-place team finish.
2022 Cross Country
Etched his name next to some of OSU’s all-time best with a historic season, where he earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Athlete of the Year and Big 12 Runner of the Year while putting together one of the most complete seasons in OSU cross country history… His 2022 campaign included two consecutive first place finishes and reached the second-fastest times in the 8K and 10K in program history… Commenced the 2022 Cross Country season where he earned USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and Big 12 Runner of the Week with first-place finish in the loaded Cowboy Jamboree, crossing the finish line in 23:16.9… His performance in the Jamboree is the second fastest in OSU history, as well as the second fastest by anybody in the event… In his next race, Maier led the Cowboys to their third consecutive Big 12 Cross Country title, while becoming the first Cowboy since Hassan Abdi in 2017 to win the individual Big 12 title… Maier rode the momentum into the Midwest Regional Championships in Columbia, Mo., where he put forth a top 15 performance and helped OSU earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships… Maier held the top score for the Cowboys in the Championships, finishing fifth in the 10K with a personal best time of 28:58.2, the second best time in program history and surpassed the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course 10K record by nearly 30 seconds… His performance earned him his second career cross country All-America honor while helping OSU finish second in the race, the third consecutive podium finish for the Cowboys… In the season, Maier finished third or better among all Cowboys in each race he participated in… Off the grass, Maier earned his first Big 12 Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and his third Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection.
2022 Outdoors
Solidified himself as one of the most dominant distance runners in the country during the 2022 outdoor campaign… Opened his season at the Stanford Invitational, picking up a top-5 finish in the 10,000 Meters with his time of 28:18.18, which ranks fourth in program history… He then traveled a few hundred miles south in California for the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational, where he earned a seventh-place finish in the 5,000 Meters, clocking a time of 13:26.81, which puts him third on the program’s all-time list… Maier entered the postseason with serious momentum and kicked things off with his third Big 12 Championship of the season in the 5,000 Meters… At the NCAA West Prelims, he earned a qualifying bid to the NCAA Championships with his top-5 finish in the 10,000 Meter semifinals… He entered the NCAA Outdoor Championships with the 18th-fastest 10,000 Meter time in the country set at the Stanford Invitational earlier in the season and proceeded to earn a runner-up finish in the 10,000 Meter final with his time of 28:12.68, which was just .36 seconds away from a national title… He became the seventh first-team All-American in the 10,000 Meters for the Cowboys and his finish was the highest since Shadrack Kipchirchir also placed second in 2014. His time of 28:12.68 is now the fourth-fastest in program history after closing his final lap in 55.50 seconds… For his efforts, Maier was named 2022 Midwest Region Men’s Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA.
2022 Indoors
Competed in six races during his record-setting indoor season, winning four of them… Set the school record at the time in his first race of the season at the Razorback Invitational with his 3,000 Meter victory time of 7:46.61… Followed up his school record by shattering his personal best in the Mile at the Husky Classic with his time of 3:56.44, which ranks second in program history behind German Fernandez… At the same meet, he broke his second school record of the season in the 5,000 Meters with his time of 13:25.79, which upended the previous record by a whopping 13 seconds… Maier put on a dominant display at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in the Distance Medley Relay and 3,000 Meters… He anchored the championships DMR squad, finishing with a 3:54 Mile split to win the title by just .02 seconds over Iowa State… He also defeated Iowa State’s defending champion Wesley Kiptoo with an impressive kick to win his second Big 12 Championships of the weekend… Earned second-team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5,000 Meters to close out his season.
2021 Cross Country
Remained one of OSU’s most dominant distance runners, scoring in all but one meet for the Cowboys… Opened his season with a fourth-place finish at the Cowboy Preview… Followed up with an impressive sixth-place finish at the historic Cowboy Jamboree, clocking an 8K time of 23:45.8. in the process… Was the second Cowboy across the line with his third-place, All-Big 12 finish at the Big 12 Championships… Also earned All-Region honors with his sixth-place time of 30:25.0… Wrapped up his season at the NCAA Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., where the Cowboys finished third as a team.
2021 Outdoors
Focused on the 10,000 meters in his debut outdoor season with Oklahoma State… tabbed a runner-up finish at the Texas Relays’ 10,00 meters… contributed to the Cowboys’ runner-up performance in the 4x1600 meter relay at the Drake Relays… narrowly missed the NCAA Outdoor Championships after finishing 15th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships.
2021 Indoors
Appeared just once in the indoor season and made the most of it… tabbed a pair of top-five All-Big 12 performances in the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters at the indoor conference championships.
2020 Cross Country
Tabbed three top-10 finishes in the fall half of the 2020 season, including an All-Big 12 personal best 8K (23:28.7) in the 2020 Big 12 Cross Country Championships… continued his success in the spring, where he placed 5th in the OSU Winter Open in a time of 24:16.8… capped his sophomore slate off in All-American fashion with a 17th-place lifetime best in the NCAA Cross Country Championships 10K title race.
2020 Indoors
Competed in the mile, 3,000m and DMR… finished fourth in the DMR at the Big 12 Championships… crossed the finish line seventh in the mile at both the Arkansas Invitational (4:14.57) and the Razorback Invitational, where he posted a personal best 4:10.90… turned in a personal-best 8:07.16 in the 3,000m at the Husky Classic.
2019 Cross Country
Scored team points in all three meets he competed… best finish was 20th at the Big 12 Championships where he finished in 24:15.8… was 30th at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
High School
Attended Lewisville Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas… Two-time state champion… Three-time All-American… Finished top-five at Foot Locker and NXN.
