OSU Track & Field Opens 2022 With Solid Performance at Arkansas Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State Track & Field travelled to Fayetteville, Ark., for the second time this season to compete in the Arkansas Invitational on Friday.
Triston Read, Ryan Schoppe and Heidi Demeo highlighted a successful first meet of the new year by winning their respective individual events (800m run, Men's and Women's Mile).
Schoppe dominated the men's mile from start to finish, breaking under the four-minute mark for the first time in his career and setting the tenth-fastest mile time in program history with a time of 3:58.71. Following Schoppe was Will Muirhead, who placed 3rd and Alex Stitt in 4th. Shea Foster finished in 7th to put four Cowboys in the top 10.
Demeo also dominated in the women's mile, winning the race by five seconds while shattering her previous personal-best mile time by over eight seconds on the day. Just behind Demeo was Colleen Stegmann coming in 3rd and finishing in 4:51.74.
In the men's weight throw, Zac Robbins and teammate Sam Mason threw themselves into second and third place in OSU history with marked distances of 17.99m and 17.16m, respectively. In the same event on the women's side, Hannah Bradford's weight throw distance of 18.70 meters puts her third in Cowgirl history, behind only Delissa McClain and Chase Ealey.
Read won the men's 800m with a dramatic last-corner pass while also recording a personal-best time of 1:52.34.
In the women's 1000m, Stephanie Moss led the Cowgirls finishing 2nd in 2:52.88. Sivan Auerbach was next to cross the finish line in 4th and Krystal Rodriguez in 6th.
The Cowgirls filled up the leaderboard in the women's 600m, grabbing six of the top seven places with Gabija Galvydyte followed by Michaela Travers, Jinah Mickens-Malik, Nicolette Dixon, Lilly Lavier, and Mackenzie Michael. Galvydyte finished 0.07 seconds behind the eventual winner after nearly chasing her down in the last 100 meters.
Tori Ortiz was another Cowgirl to finish in the top 10, placing 7th in the women's 400m dash. She finished in 56.88.
Maddie Meiner placed 9th in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 9.01. She was followed by 19th place Annie Molenhouse which put two Cowgirls in the top 20 and one in the top 10.
Meiner put her name in the top 10 for the second time on the day in the women's high jump. She landed in 3rd with a jump of 1.68m.
Bailey Golden led the Cowgirls in the women's long jump. She recorded a jump of 5.80m followed by 8th place Olivija Vaitaityte and 10th place Allison Bliss to round out the top 10. Also getting their names on the board were India Morgan, Sydney Ritter, Sanye Ford and Sara Byers, putting seven Cowgirls in the top 25.
There were two Cowboy top 15 finishers in the men's Long jump. Jacob Belin came in 8th followed by 12th place Max Braht, with distances of 6.73 and 6.51m, respectively.
Ariadni Adamopoulou finished 3rd in the women's pole vault with a height of 4.10m.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete again next weekend at the Red Raider Open on Jan. 21 in Lubbock, Texas, and the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman on Jan.22.
