Cowgirls Open Fall Season in Lubbock

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team will open the 2017 fall season this weekend at the Lubbock 25k tournament, set to begin with qualifying on Sunday, Sept. 17.
Appearing at the tournament for the Pokes will be senior Vladica Babic and juniors Sofia Blanco, Katarina Stresnakova and transfer Marina Guinart.
Similar to the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic to be hosted at the Greenwood Tennis Center later this month (Sept. 25-Oct. 1), the Lubbock 25k will feature several professional athletes from around the world competing for $25,000 in prize money, as well as WTA Tour Ranking points. Many college and junior players will be competing in the event as well.
The Cowgirls, who had planned to open the fall season this weekend in the Bahamas at the Albany Collegiate Invitational, changed their travel plans earlier this week due to weather concerns. The trip to Lubbock, however, will still provide the squad with valuable experience against quality opponents.
