Cowgirl Golf Aiming For Third Straight Thompson Invite Title
March 13, 2017 | Cowgirl Golf
KANE'OHE, Hawaii – The Oklahoma State women's golf team is back in Hawaii looking to keep its stranglehold on the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational title.
The Cowgirls are the two-time defending champions of the event, and have won the title five times in the 32 years of the invitational.
Last season, the Cowgirls were tied with Texas A&M at 4-under 860 at the end of 54 holes, but OSU was declared the winner based on the score of both team's fifth-place finisher. OSU's Chih-Min Chen finished in 17th place with a 5-over 221, which was one stroke better than the Aggie's fifth place finisher.
Maddie McCrary was practically unstoppable in last year's Thompson Invitational. The then-sophomore matched her season best finish at 5-under, which helped her tie for second place. It was McCrary's third straight top five finish.
The Cowgirls will tee off at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and will play 36 holes. The event will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
