"I think we knew there were going to be battle matches today," head coach John Smith said. "We won several of them, and we stretched some of the scores out. I think 125 was an important match, and 184 became real important. It wasn't our best match by far, but it's important to be able to struggle in matches and still find ways to win."
Each team took five matches in the dual, but technical falls from Nick Piccininni and Nolan Boyd, and a dual-clinching victory from heavyweight Austin Schafer lifted the Cowboys to their ninth win of the season.
"Regardless of the score, you go into every match wanting to win, wanting to find a way to win no matter what and rack up points on them," Schafer said. It was a little different tonight, because you had to be more conservative and had to keep the team score in mind."

The Cowboys came out on top of a number of close bouts in the opening five matches to lead, 15-0, heading into intermission. OSU would close the door on the Cyclones in the second half, using a pair of falls from 165-pounder Chandler Rogers and heavyweight Austin Schafer, along with a top-10 victory from senior Kyle Crutchmer at 174 pounds.
"Since the Missouri match, even though I lost, I found that my shots were starting to work," Rogers said. "I felt some of my moves. Even though I didn't take a single shot in my match, I felt my offense open up. I really used that momentum from the last dual. I always want to try to feed off myself and the things that motivate me."
"When you lose a match that you're really not supposed to lose, you find yourself questioning a lot of things," Crutchmer said. "How you bounce back isn't trying to fix things because most of the time, they aren't broken. There might be a couple of things that I struggled with mentally on Friday. I put a little too much pressure on myself being a senior, but it's good to come out here and beat a guy that made the NCAA semifinals last year. I'm just ready to keep going."
"I'm just trying to have fun with it," Crutchmer said of trying to finish his season strong. "This is my last year to compete in wrestling. I'm just trying to have fun with my guys, my teammates. We're a good team. I'm just looking forward to competing and being able to showcase my skills. I just want to have fun with it while I'm still able to do it."

Eight Cowboys Claim Titles in Miami – Full Recap
Eight members of the Oklahoma State wrestling team took home titles Saturday at the Golden Norseman Open on the campus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. OSU was dominant, putting 11 wrestlers into the finals of their respective weight classes.
Competing unattached, junior Gary Wayne Harding rolled through the 133-pound bracket to take the title. Harding dominated throughout the day, tallying technical falls of 19-4, 18-0 and 15-0 in his first three matches before defeating Northeastern Oklahoma A&M's Sean DeShazer, 7-6, in the finals.
The Cowboys took first and second at 141 pounds, as OSU redshirt freshmen Boo Lewallen and Lincoln Olson met in the finals, where Lewallen would prevail with a 19-3 tech fall win. Lewallen went 4-0 on the day with three techs to take the title. Olson picked up a third-period pin and a 17-0 tech in his first two matches of the day before clinching his spot in the finals with a 6-4 sudden victory win over Dakota Resendez of NEO in the semis.
OSU took first and second at 149 pounds as well, with unattached junior Geo Martinez edging redshirt sophomore Jonce Blaylock in a 9-4 final match. Martinez rolled through the bracket with three pins and a major decision to advance through to the finals. Blaylock recorded three falls and a major of his own on the day before colliding with Martinez.
Redshirt sophomore Dalton Moran took home the 157-pound title in spectacular fashion, dropping Oklahoma City's Grant Williams in only 28 seconds in the final match. The Chandler, Ariz., native went 4-0 on the day, including a couple of pins, to claim the top spot in his bracket.
Unattached junior Jacobe Smith was his usual dominant self on Saturday, streaking through the 174-pound bracket with three first-period pins, including a 32-second fall over Oklahoma City's Tanner Borror in the championship bout.
Also competing unattached, Andrew Marsden pinned his way to the title as well at 184 pounds. Marsden recorded falls of seven seconds and 29 seconds in his first two matches, before dropping Ouachita Baptist's Andrew Clayton in 1:54 in the semifinals and Central Oklahoma's Caleb Hawes in 1:15 in the championship.
Not to be outdone, Cowboy freshman Keegan Moore posted five falls on the day to take the title at 197, wrestling unattached. Moore finished off his day with a pin in the final minute over Ruston Duke of NEO in the finals.
At heavyweight, unattached junior Blake Andrews went 5-0 Saturday to take the top spot in his bracket. Andrews opened with a technical fall and a pair of majors before a 3-0 decision over Central Oklahoma's Evan McGee in the semifinals and an 8-1 win over Oklahoma City's Bryson McGowan lifted him to the win.
Cowboy Hestin Lamons recorded three technical falls to advance to the finals at 165 pounds; however, the redshirt sophomore was injured in the first period of the finals, giving opponent James Wyat Jordan of NEO the win.
