Evans Near Double-Double Leads Cowboys In Upset Win Over Kansas

Stillwater, Okla. ---- Jawun Evans led the way for Oklahoma State with 22 points in a 86-67 upset over Kansas Tuesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Evans also finished with six rebounds and eight assists.
Oklahoma State extended its lead till the end, and eventually joined along as students rushed the court after the win.
After an impressive first half, the Cowboys came out in the second half with plenty of confidence against the No. 3 team in the country.
An early Jeff Newberry three gave Oklahoma State a 50-43 lead, and a pair of Mitchell Solomon free throws made it 55-47 a few minutes later.
A Newberry dunk shortly after the Solomon free throws made it 57-47 with 14:00 remaining.
Another Newberry dunk with 8:41 left extended the Cowboy lead back to 63-54 with 8:41 left.
Tavarius Shine's three made it 66-54 with 8:02 and forced a quick Kansas timeout.
Oklahoma State wouldn't stop there, and a 7-0 run capped by an Evans layup made it 73-57 with 5:18 remaining.
Newberry continued his impressive second half performance, and made a pair of free throws to make it 75-60 with 4:55 left.
A Shine layup with 38 seconds remaining sealed the win for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State trailed 24-22 at the 8-minute media timeout, but a Joe Burton three out of it gave the Cowboys a 25-24 lead.Â
Later in the half, back-to-back threes from Jeffrey Carroll made it 40-38 Oklahoma State with 50 seconds till halftime.Â
An Evans three gave the Cowboys a 43-38 lead at halftime.Â
The Cowboys made a team season-high 11 three-pointers in the game, and every Oklahoma State player who checked into the game finished with figures in the scoring column.Â

The win was Oklahoma State's third consecutive in Gallagher-Iba Arena against the Jayhawks, and the fifth in the past seven games.
