Last Time Out
The Oklahoma State women's track and field team wrapped up its indoor regular season Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational, highlighted by the second fastest distance medley relay time in school history.
Jennifer Celis, Stephanie Ferrante Clara Nichols and Kaela Edwards combined to finish the event in just 11:08.13, which is also the second fastest time in the Big 12 this season.
An earlier Cowgirl DMR group of Aurora Dybedokken, Ferrante, Nichols and Edwards that ran at the Razorback Invitational in January previously held the second fastest time in the conference until today's time.
Aurora Dybedokken and NCAA champion Natalja Piliusina also competed Saturday in the one mile run.
Piliusina, a seven-time All-American and eight-time Big 12 champion, made her indoor season debut, running a 4:53.74. This race marks the first time that Piliusina has competed in any event since 2013.
The native Lithuanian has one NCAA outdoor title in the 1,500-meter run and holds seven school records.
Dybedokken finished ninth in the event and put up a time of 4:49.86. She already holds the eighth fastest mile in the Big 12 this year with a 4:45.92 that she recorded last weekend at the Husky Invitational in Seattle.
A Look Back
The OSU men's track and field team won it's first indoor track and field team conference championship last year, claiming the 2014 title in Ames, Iowa.
The Cowboys used several clutch performances to compile 112.5 team points, which was a school record. The previous best was 79 at the 1982 Big 8 Championships. OSU was four points clear of second-place Texas.
The Cowboys added that title to the Big 12 Cross Country title they won in November of 2013, becoming the first team to win both in the same season.
Kirubel Erassa claimed Big 12 titles in the mile (4:15.94) and the 3,000 meters (7:53.53), in which he set a meet record. Erassa knew he could clinch the team title with a win in the 3,000 meters, went way out in front at the start and never looked back. He also won the 5,000 meter title. Erassa's 30 points scored was the high total of the meet. Erassa was the first athlete in school history to win three individual conference titles at the same meet.
Tyreek Hill won the 200 meters in 20.81. He also took second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.64. John Teeters took fifth in the 60 meters.
In the mile, Erassa was joined by Shane Moskowitz and Luis Martinez, who took second and sixth, respectively.
In the 600 yard run, Tyler Payton ran another personal best, with a 1:10.61, finishing fifth. He one-upped the personal best he ran in the prelims.
In the 1,000 meters, Chad Noelle (2:22.55) and Justin Vilhauer (2:23.70) took second and third place, contributing 14 more team points to the cause. Noelle's time was a new school record in the 1,000 meters.
OSU picked up eighth-place finishes from Ryan Finnie in the triple jump and Itamar Levi in the shot put.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls scored a school record 60 team points, good enough for seventh place.
The Cowgirls claimed two individual Big 12 titles, with Savannah Camacho running a 2:49.97 in the 1,000 meters and Viktoriia Sadokhina jumping 12.73 meters in the triple jump to win the events.
The OSU women's squad totaled seven All-Big 12 performers, as Camacho and Viktoriia Sadokhina were joined by Kaela Edwards who finished second in the 800 meters (2:06.12), Clara Nichols who finished third in the 800 meters (2:07.83), Adela Hofmannova who finished third in the 1,000 meters (2:54.46), Caileigh Glenn who finished sixth in the mile run (4:47.79) and Chase Ealey who placed fourth in the shot put (15.86m).
Cowboys No. 12 Going Into Big 12 Championship
After a weekend off, the OSU men's team dropped three spots in the USTFCCCA rankings to No. 12.
Last week, the Cowboys were ranked ninth, which was the team's highest ranking since it was ranked sixth in the final ranking of last season.
The women's team fell nine spots to 38 despite running two events at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Feb. 21.
Both teams still own 37 top-10 marks in the Big 12 going into the conference championships.
The Fastest Man in the Country
On Feb. 13, Cowboy sprinter John Teeters provided yet another dazzling display in the 60 meter dash, as the sophomore ran a 6.52 at the Tyson Invitational, breaking his own school record. Teeters now has sole possession of the best time in the NCAA this season.

Teeters' time in perspective, in last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, Florida State's Dentarius Locke ran 6.52 to win the 60-meter final. Teeters' performance is tied for ninth on the all-time NCAA list.
A Rising Star
On Jan. 10, Oklahoma State cross country standout Cerake Geberkidane finished second in the men's junior race at the Great Edinburgh International Cross Country Meet, helping team USA win its first overall team title at the event. Geberkidane, a freshman in his first season of collegiate competition, completed the 6K course in 20:07, besting several of the world's elite junior athletes.
The Denver, Colo., native followed that performance on Feb. 7 with a runner-up finish in the junior race at the 2015 USA Cross Country Championships. He finished the 8K course in 25:37 and is now qualified to represent the United States at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in China March 28.
Miller Smashes Meet Record
Oklahoma State's season-opening appearance at the K-State Winter Invitational was highlighted by one of the Cowboys' most decorated talents; senior Nick Miller. Miller took first in the weight throw with a toss of 22.56m/74-0.25, breaking the previous meet record (21.44m/70-04.25m - Jason Gervais, Wyoming, 1999) by almost four feet.
Rewriting the Record Books
On Feb. 13 and 14, the OSU track and field team had its biggest weekend of the 2014-15 indoor season with 43 athletes competing in three different events. Several athletes recorded career bests and others recorded some of the best marks in OSU school history.
John Teeters ran a school record 6.52 60 meter dash at the Tyson Invitational. His time broke his own school record (6.54) and ranks ninth all time in NCAA history.
Three OSU mile runners recorded sub-four minute times at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14. Chad Noelle's 3:57.78 was the fastest time by a collegiate athlete in the event and was the second fastest time in school history. Vegard Oelstad also recorded a historic mark, finishing his mile in 3:58.79, good for sixth in school history.
In the 3,000 meter run, Fabian Clarkson ran the had the third fastest time in OSU history with a 7:50.49 at the Husky Classic.
Kaela Edwards' 2:03.70 was her career best and also kept her at second in school history in the 800 meter run.
Freshman Jennifer Celis made her OSU debut in the one mile run and recorded the No. 4 time in OSU history, running a 4:40.69.
