Cowgirls Extend Winning Streak At West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.V. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team ran its winning streak to four games on Wednesday night with a 52-46 win at West Virginia in front of 1,407 fans inside WVU Coliseum.
The win, which was also OSU's third consecutive on the road, moved the Cowgirls to 17-8 overall and 7-7 in Big 12 play. The Mountaineers fell to 15-11 and 5-9.
Neither team could get on track early offensively with OSU scoring the only two points over the first five minutes of the contest. After WVU tied the game, Brittney Martin hit back-to-back jumpers to put OSU back in front.
The Mountaineers answered with a 5-0 run to take their lone lead of the contest at 7-6. Martin answered with a layup on the next possession to put the Cowgirls back in front.
OSU limited WVU to four points over the final eight minutes of the half en route to a 23-13 advantage at the break. The Mountaineers' point total was their lowest ever in a half on their home floor.
In the second half, WVU repeatedly cut into the deficit, pulling within six on multiple occasions, while OSU pushed its lead back to 10 on four different occasions.
After an old-fashioned 3-point play from West Virginia cut the lead to six with1:11 to go, the Cowgirls answered with consecutive layups from LaShawn Jones.
Jones logged a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Martin poured in a game-high 24 points to go with nine rebounds. Roddricka Patton dished out a career-high 14 assists.
Bria Holmes led WVU with 12 points.
OSU will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Kansas at 7 p.m.
