ATHENS, Ga. -
Oklahoma State men's tennis members Arjun Kadhe and Jakob Sude advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championships in Athens, Ga., with an opening round victory on Thursday.
The 14th-ranked Cowboy doubles tandem took down No. 27 McCloskey/Marsland of Tulsa, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-1, giving Oklahoma State its first individual win at the NCAA Championships since Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Daniel Byrnes grabbed a first round triumph in 2010. After struggling through the opening set, the Cowboy duo pulled out a 7-4 tiebreaker victory in the second and broke Tulsa twice in the deciding third set to finish off the comeback success.
Kadhe and Sude move on to Friday's round of 16 and will face the winner of tonight's match between No. 8 Pieters/Wagland (UGA) and No. 18 Andrews/Lawson (Notre Dame). Start times will be posted later tonight on Twitter at @CowboyTennis.
