Caroline Hedwall Named To Solheim Cup Squad

STILLWATER, Okla. - Former Oklahoma State standout Caroline Hedwall earned one of four captain's picks for the Solheim Cup it was announced today by European squad captain Alison Nicholas.

Hedwall has had an impressive rookie campaign on the Ladies European Tour. A native of Sweden, she won the LET Final Qualifying School and December. Hedwall went on to earn her first professional win at the Australian Tour's South Wales Open.

Hedwall has recorded a pair of LET victories during her first campaign, winning the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open and the Finnair Masters. She currently ranks third on the Tour's Order of Merit.

The 2010 NCAA Champion's selection marks the third time OSU has been represented at the event. Val Skinner competed for the United States in 1996, while Linda Wessberg was a member of the European squad in 2007.

The Solheim Cup will take place Sept. 23-25 at Killeen Castle in Ireland.
