Waco, Texas -- Ari Morrison went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and the 18th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls defeated the No. 16 Baylor Bears 4-2 here Friday night before 1,074 fans at Getterman Stadium.

Baylor took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, Cowgirl pitcher Kat Espinosa walked the next two batters. After a fly out, leadoff hitter Kathy Shelton hit an RBI single to left center, scoring KJ Freeland.

Baylor hurler Whitney Canion kept the Cowgirls quiet through the first three innings, allowing just an infield single to Ari Morrison in the first. Canion sat down eight-straight batters before Morrison led off the fourth with a base hit.

Morrison's second hit of the game set off a chain reaction. Four of the first five Cowgirl batters had base hits. Alysia Hamilton hit a double to right centerfield, just over the glove of Freeland at second base, scoring Morrison. After a sacrifice bunt by Chelsea Garcia, Julie Ward drove in Hamilton with a base hit, giving Oklahoma State a 2-1 lead.

The Cowgirls added two more runs in the fifth, running Canion from the circle. With one out, Mariah Gearhart had a base hit. Morrison hit a grounder to second base, but Freeland bobbled the ball, and Gearhart ran over her en route to second base. With both runners safe, Hamilton moved them to second and third on a groundout to first. Garcia took over, driving a ball to left center, scoring both runners.

Sophomore Kat Espinosa threw a complete game, her 12th of the season. She allowed eight hits, four in the first two innings while allowing six baserunners in the first two frames. She improved to 18-5 on the season. Canion, the Bears' ace, gave up four runs, two earned, in 4-2/3 innings while striking out six. She fell to 19-6 and had allowed just 36 runs all season.

Oklahoma State (35-11 overall, 6-4 Big 12) and Baylor (35-9, 7-4) will play the final game of the series on Saturday at 2 pm.
