Caroline Hedwall Wins Pro Debut

OATLANDS, NSW - Former Oklahoma State All-American Caroline Hedwall earned her first title as a professional in her debut at the Bing Lee Samsung NSW Women's Open on Sunday.
Hedwall opened with rounds of 67 and 68 at at Oatlands Golf Club before posting a 70 during her third round to win by one. The Sweden native won in dramatic fashion, carding a birdie on her final hole to secure a one-shot victory.
The 2010 NCAA champion and national player of the year, Hedwall led by three at the midway point of her final round, but found herself tied for the lead after a bogey at the 17th. At the par-3 18th, Hedwall left her tee shot 14 feet above the hole before calmly converting the birdie putt to secure the victory.
"I'm just happy, it's nice, it's a great feeling." Hedwall said. "I made birdie there yesterday so I knew it was possible. I had good yardage and I hit a good shot. I loved the moment."
For her finish at the event, which is part of the Australian Ladies Professional Golf circuit, Hedwall pocketed $18,750.
