SOUTHPORT, U.K. - Oklahoma State's Caroline Hedwall posted a 2-under 70 during her final round at the Ricoh Women's British Open on Sunday to claim low amateur status at Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
The lone amateur to make the cut, Hedwall finished in a four-way tie for 27th place at 3-over 291. The Loddekopinge, Sweden native made it to the weekend with rounds of 74 and 75 before posting a 72 on Saturday at the par-72, 6,458-yard layout.
During her closing round, Hedwall made the turn at 2-under 33 after posting birdies on both par 3s on the front side, Nos. 4 and 7. After a triple bogey at the par-3 12th, she reeled off birdies on Nos. 15, 17 and 18, all par 5s, to move back into red figures.
The 2010 NCAA champion as a sophomore, Hedwall announced she will join the professional ranks this fall.
The two-time All-American was one of five former Cowgirls to play in the event. Pernilla Lindberg, Caroline Masson, Karin Sjodin and Linda Wessberg were all in the field this week as well.
