Cowgirls In Fourth At Central Regional

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 305 total during its first round at the NCAA Central Regional on Thursday to stand in a tie for fourth place at Otter Creek Golf Club.
The ninth-seeded Cowgirls joined Oregon at 17-over par for the day at the par-72, 6,416-yard layout. The duo is two shots behind Purdue for third place and six off the pace of Southern California for second. Arizona State posted a 297 to hold a two-shot advantage over USC with 36 holes to play.
Of the 123 players in the field, only three broke par during Day One with Purdue's Thea Hoffmeister and Oregon's Kendra Little leading the pack with 2-under 70s. ASU's Juliana Murcia was one shot back and in third place with a 71.
OSU freshman Victoria Park was among a quartet of players at level par and tied for fourth place. Park's 72 included a 1-over 37 on the front nine. The Irvine, Calif., native birdied the par-5 fifth prior to recording bogeys on two of her final three holes before the turn. After her third and final bogey of the day at the 10th, Park birdied both par-3s on the back nine, posting twos at Nos. 13 and 15 to move back to even for the day.
Freshman Courtney McKim posted a 76 to stand in a tie for 24th place, while sophomore Caroline Hedwall opened with a 77 and is tied for 27th place.
Freshman Hilary Wood's 80 tied her for 59th and freshman Eyglo Oskarsdottir posted an 88 and is tied for 115th place.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round at 12:30 p.m. (EST) and will be grouped with New Mexico and Florida State.
