Caroline Hedwall Repeats As Big 12 Player of the Year

IRVING, Texas - For the second consecutive year, Oklahoma State's Caroline Hedwall has been named the Big 12 Player of the Year with the announcement of the league's postseason honorees for the 2009-10 women's golf season.
Hedwall has won four times in 10 starts during her sophomore campaign. The Loddekopinge, Sweden native has finished in the top five seven times this season, including all six of her starts this spring.
Last fall, Hedwall earned her first victory at the season-opening Golfweek Conference Challenge in September. She posted her second and third victories of the year in the squad's first two spring outings, winning the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and the Arizona Wildcat Invitational.
After finishing third at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, Hedwall posted a fourth-place showing at the BYU at Entrada Classic and tied for third at the Ping/ASU Invitational.
Hedwall earned victory No. 4 last weekend in record fashion at the Big 12 Championship in Norman, Okla. With a tournament-record total of 210, 6-under, she rolled to an eight-shot triumph and became the seventh Cowgirl to claim medalist honors at the event.
With her distinction as the league's top player, OSU has now produced the league's last three players of the year. Seven Cowgirls overall have won the award with Hedwall being the first repeat winner since Maria Bodén was named the league's top player three-straight years from 1999-2001.
Joining Hedwall on the all-conference squad was freshman Victoria Park. The Irvine, Calif., native has four top 10s this season, three of which have come this spring. At the conference championship, Park turned in a third-place performance for her best career finish to date.
