Cowgirls Finish Ninth At Ping/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 291 during its final round at the Ping/ASU Invitational on Sunday to finish in ninth at Arizona State's Karsten Course.
The Cowgirls' 3-over day gave them a 54-hole total of 875, 11-over, and put them one shot behind Alabama for eighth place. UCLA fired a 9-under 279 to overtake Arizona State by one shot in the team race. UCLA entered the day in third place before finishing at 8-under 856 to make up 12 shots. ASU came in at 857 and one shot ahead of Southern California for second place.
UCLA also produced the event's individual medalist in Stephanie Kono, who moved from a tie for fourth to the top of the leaderboard. Kono finished at 9-under 207 and one ahead of USC's Jennifer Song.
OSU sophomore Caroline Hedwall fired a bogey-free 67 to move into a tie for third place at 209. Hedwall birdied Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 8 to go out in 31 before posting eight pars to go with a birdie at the 15th to get in at 5-under par for the day. With the third-place showing, Hedwall has now finished in the top five in each of the squad's five events this spring.
Freshman Victoria Park narrowly missed her second consecutive top 10, tying for 11th at 2-under 214. Park carded a 72 during her final round after carding consecutive 71s durings the first and second rounds.
Freshman Courtney McKim closed with a 74 to finish at 215 and tied for 17th place for her second-straight top-20 showing.
Freshman Eyglo Oskarsdottir closed with a 78 to tie for 81st at 238, while freshman Hillary Wood's 82 tied her for 83rd place at 241.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on April 23 when they travel to Norman, Okla., for the Big 12 Championship.
