Cowgirl Golf In Seventh At Spartan Invite

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in seventh place with a 36-over 611 total at Almaden Country Club.
During Monday's morning round, OSU opened with a 299 to stand in a tie for second, but slipped into a three-way tie for seventh after Round Two. OSU's 312 during the afternoon dropped the Cowgirls into a tie with Long Beach State and San Diego State.
Tournament host San Jose State was the first-day leader at 19-over 595, while UC Davis came in second at 601.
OSU's Caroline Hedwall fired the round of the day to open play, with a 3-under 69 for the lone round under 70 in the entire field. The sophomore followed with a 75 to stand at even-par 144 and one shot behind San Jose State's Cristina Corpus for the individual lead.
Freshman Victoria Park stood in a tie for fourth after an opening 73 before posting a 76 during her second round to dip into a tie for 10th at 149.
Freshman Courtney McKim also finished the day in the top 20, posting rounds of 75 and 77 for a 152 total to come in tied for 17th.
Freshman Hillary Wood carded rounds of 82 and 84 to stand in 78th at 166, while freshman Eyglo Oskarsdottir finished the day in 84th after posting scores of 82 and 90 for a 172 total.
The Cowgirls will close out play tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. (PST) at the par-72, 6,223-yard layout.
