LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England - A pair of former Cowgirls made the cut on Friday at the Ricoh Women's British Open as Karin Sjödin and Emma Zackrisson will both be in action over the weekend at Royal Lytham and St. Annes Golf Club.
Sjödin stands in a tie for 25th place at 5-over 149 after carding a 74 during her second round. She will begin the weekend eight shots behind co-leaders Catriona Matthew and Giulia Sergas, who are tied atop the leaderboard at 141.
The former Cowgirl All-American overcame a slow start that saw her bogey five of her first six holes. Sjödin rebounded with birdies at Nos. 8 and 9 to turn at 3-over and made her third consecutive birdie at the par-4 10th to get back to plus-2. After bogeys at the 12th and 14th, she answered with birdies at the 15th and 17th to finish at 2-over par for the day.
Zackrisson followed an opening 75 with a 77 and is tied for 47th place at 152. A pair of birdies on her outward nine highlighted the Sweden native's day as she made the turn at even-par 34.
Current Cowgirl Caroline Hedwall missed the cut by one shot after signing for a 75 during her second round for a 36-hole total of 154. The sophomore-to-be finished tied for 72nd place.
Zackrisson will begin her third round at 7:30 a.m. local time tomorrow, while Sjödin will begin her third round at 10:20 a.m.
