Cowgirls Slip Into Seventh Place At NCAA Championship

Oklahoma State's women's golf team carded a 309 during its third round at the NCAA Championship on Thursday to stand in seventh place at Caves Valley Golf Club.
The Cowgirls' 21-over day moved them to 909, 45-over, for the tournament. OSU will enter its final round one shot behind Virginia for sixth, two strokes behind fifth-place Denver and three strokes behind North Carolina for fourth place.
The top three teams on the leaderboard are separated by just three shots after Southern California surged to the lead with a 294 for an 890 total. Arizona State moved into the runner-up position after carding a 291 to get to 891, while UCLA stands in third place at 893
USC's Jennifer Song is the only player in the 126-player field at even par or better. Song carded a 71 and stands two shots clear of the field at 216.
OSU's Pernilla Lindberg maintained her spot in the top 10, moving down two spots into a tie for eighth place after carding a 76. The Bollnäs, Sweden native overcame a rough four-hole stretch on her front nine that included three double bogeys sandwiched around a birdie at the fourth hole. After making the turn at 5-over 41, Lindberg birdied the par-4 10th and added another birdie at the 15th hole to come in with a 1-uner 35.
The Cowgirl senior will enter her final collegiate round with a 6-over total of 222.
Freshman Caroline Masson is tied for 34th place after posting a round of 78 for a 228 total, while fellow freshman Caroline Hedwall is tied for 47th place at 230 after signing for a 76.
Senior Amanda Johnson will begin her final round tied for 64th place at 233 after turning in a 79.
Joining Johnson at 233 was classmate Karin Kinnerud, who posted a third-round 81.
The Cowgirls will begin their final round tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will be paired with Duke and Pepperdine.
