STANFORD, Calif. -
Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play on Friday at the Stanford Intercollegiate with a 288 total to stand in seventh place at Stanford Golf Course.
The Cowgirls' 4-over total put them one shot behind San Jose State for sixth at the par-71, 6,156-yard layout. Arizona State fired an 11-under 273 to lead the team race by four shots.
Texas' Madison Pressel posted a 65 to lead a pair of players, including OSU's Caroline Hedwall.
Hedwall fired a 5-under 66 and is tied for second with Marina Alex of Vanderbilt. The Cowgirl All-American made the turn at even par before birdieing the first four holes on the back nine. Hedwall added a birdie at the 17th to finish at 5-under for the day.
Freshman Victoria Park's even-par 71 tied her for 18th place while freshman Jane Rah finished the day tied for 34th place with a 73.
Freshman Courtney McKim carded a 78 and is tied for 64th place and classmate Hillary Wood's 79 put her in a tie for 69th place.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Southern California and Vanderbilt. luding the link to the official athletics site of Oklahoma State University.
