Cowgirl Golfers Fall To Fifth At Central Regional

Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked women's golf team is in fifth place after the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Central Regional here Friday afternoon, carding a team score of 319 and dropping three spots from second. The Cowgirls trail Friday's leaders by four strokes entering the final round on Saturday.
Oklahoma State recorded just two individual scores under 80 and had the highest score of the top-seven teams from Thursday. Freshman Jenny Karr, who was in seventh place after Thursday's round, carded an 81 and dropped to 13th. Senior Emma Zackrisson, who was in 15th place Thursday, recorded an 82 and dropped to 30th. Freshman Annie Thurman, who was in 11th place on Thursday, carded an 86 and dropped to 50th place.
Two Cowgirls did improve after the second round. Junior Christi Cano moved up 13 spots from 22nd to ninth after recording a 77, the third-lowest score of the day. Fellow junior Linda Wessberg moved up 12 spots from 71st to 58th after carding a 79.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday with a final round of 18 holes. The top-eight teams at the Central Regional will advance to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, May 21-24, in Auburn, Wash. Six strokes separate the top-eight teams.
