Cowgirl Golfers Tied For Third At Spartan Invitational

Salinas, Calif. - Oklahoma State's ninth-ranked Cowgirl golf team is in third place after the first round of the Spartan Invitational here on the Corral de Tierra Country Club. Senior Emma Zackrisson is in ninth-place individually with a first-round score of 73.
California sits atop the team leaderboard with a team score of 289. Pepperdine is five strokes back at 294, followed by Oklahoma State at 297 and New Mexico State at 299. Texas rounds out the top five with a 300.
Ria Quiazon of Cal leads the individual race with a four-under-par 68 during the first day. There's a three-way tie for second place at 71, and a four-way tie for fifth at 72. Zackrisson is tied for ninth at 73, while junior Christi Cano is tied for 15th at 74.
Junior Linda Wessberg and freshman Annie Thurman are tied for 21st at 75, and freshman Lisa Jean rounds out the Cowgirl golfers, tying for 33rd place with a 76.
The tournament will continue on Tuesday with another round of 18 holes, and conclude on Wednesday with a final round of 18.
