Austin, Texas - Oklahoma State's eighth-ranked Cowgirl golf team finished fifth at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational here Tuesday afternoon, carding a final-round total of 304. The Cowgirls were tied for fifth with TCU entering the final round of play.
Duke won the team title with a three-round total of 920. Texas finished second at 923, while Oklahoma finished third at 929. Ohio State shot a 933, and OSU rounded out the top five teams.
Senior Emma Zackrisson continued her fine play over the last month by finishing fourth individually, tied with Vanderbilt's Meredith Ward. It was her third-consecutive top-10 finish. Zackrisson shot 76-76-74 for a three-round total of 226, eight strokes back of the individual medalist, Texas' Janice Olivencia, who shot a 218. Cany Hannemann of Duke finished second with a 223, and OU's Allison Johnson finished third with a 225.
Junior Christi Cano finished in the top 20 for the 16th time in her career and fifth straight with a 236, good enough for 18th place. Linda Wessberg tied for 28th with a 240, carding a 75 on the final round after two-consecutive above-80 scores. Freshman Lisa Jean finished 39th with a 245, and freshman Annie Thurman finished with a score of 250 with a 78 during the final round.
Oklahoma State will next be in action on April 5 when it competes in the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
