Cowgirl Golfers Finish Fourth At Wildcat Invitational

Tucson, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's ninth-ranked Cowgirl golf team finished fourth at the Wildcat Invitational, shooting a 290 during the final round of play and moving up two spots in the standings.
Junior Christi Cano tied for fifth individually as three Cowgirls finished in the top 15. Cano shot a three-round total of 219, or three over par. Junior Linda Wessberg tied for ninth with a four-over 220, and senior Emma Zackrisson finished tied for 14th with a 222.
Third-ranked Duke won the tournamment with a three-day total of 876. Top-ranked Auburn finished second with an 883, tying 11th-ranked and host school Arizona at 883. The Cowgirls finished five strokes back at 888, and fifth-ranked Texas rounded out the top five with an 893, tying fourth-ranked Tennessee.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa won the individual title after carding a three-round score of nine-under 207. Cowgirl newcomer Lisa Jean shot 77-77-75 for her first tournament in an OSU uniform, tying for 39th, while freshman Annie Thurman shot an 83 after consecutive 76s to finish at 235.
Oklahoma State will return to action on March 4 as the Cowgirls travel to Monterey, Calif., to compete in the Spartan Invitational, hosted by San Jose State University.
